A 6-hour class presented by RaNae Merrill that introduces the Free-Motion Mastery in a Month process that appeals to both beginning quilters and those wanting to expand their design skills. Students learn how to set up their sewing machines and find their perfect quilting speed and stitch length. Then, they learn to quilt patterns from straight lines to feathers -- successfully! They'll go home with a practice plan to continue building their skills and best of all, leave class saying "I can DO this!"

In this sewing class, we'll teach you how to quilt as you go and applique` each block. It's open to all sewing machine owners, and we'll explore all the different features and feet of your machine. The class is designed to be informative, fun, and a full project. We'll make a total of 12 blocks before assembling the final product. The class will be held every two weeks so that we can finish by December 2024.

Bring an armload of scraps in a tub or box. Your "strings" should be no wider than 2-1/2" and no narrower than 3/4". They don't have to be straight and can be any length. You won't use them all but you'll want a variety of prints, textures, and colors. If you want a controlled colorway, chose some scraps based on that. For example, you might want all blues, all Halloween, or all batiks.

Do you have a Stripology ruler you don?t know how to use, or do you need more practice? The ?Strip Stacks? pattern was written as a skill builder for the Stripology ruler. This class will start with a demo of using the ruler and an explanation of the many ways you can use it. If you don?t have a ruler, you can use the one in the classroom to decide if you are ready to make the investment. For this project, you will need small pieces of several different fabrics for the blocks and a background fabric that is a good contrast to the blocks. The pattern includes 3 sizes - a mini wall hanging, a table runner, and a baby quilt size.
